Puppetry Direction
Since puppetry is a relatively new element in mainstream American theater, many directors choose to hire a puppetry director to get the most out of working with puppets as unique storytelling tools. Puppets are very different performers than actors, with their own particular strengths and technical constraints which can overwhelm anyone new to puppetry.
My approach as a puppetry director is to work closely with the director, actors, puppeteers and designers to facilitate a strong puppetry performance that supports the overall piece, whether it is a "puppet show" or a show that only employs a couple puppets.
